MLB: Oakland 6, Cleveland 4

OAKLAND, Calif., Aug. 18 (UPI) -- Josh Donald snapped an eighth-inning tie with an RBI single Friday and the Oakland Athletics went on to defeat Cleveland 6-4.

The A's overcame an early four-run deficit brought about when Shelley Duncan hit a grand slam homer in the fourth. Oakland got three of those runs back in the bottom half of the inning, with Donaldson's double driving home one of them.

A sacrifice fly in the fifth by Chris Carter created a 4-4 tie.

Carter drew a leadoff walk in the eighth off Joe Smith (7-3), moved to second on a single by Brandon Moss and took third on a base hit by Josh Reddick.

Adam Rosales then came on to run for Carter and Rosales scored on Donaldson's single. Cliff Pennington drove in a second run in the inning with a sacrifice fly.

The eighth-inning runs made a winner out of Jordan Norberto (4-1), who recorded the final two outs in the seventh and retired the side in the eighth.
