MLB: New York Mets 9, LA Dodgers 0

LOS ANGELES, June 30 (UPI) -- R.A. Dickey pitched eight shutout innings Friday and Daniel Murphy drove in five runs for the New York Mets in a 9-0 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Dickey (12-1) allowed three-hits, walked one and struck out 10 to finish June 5-0 and become the first 12-game win in the majors this season.

His five victories in June included a seven-hit shutout of St. Louis June 2 and a shutout of Baltimore June 18. He gave up just five earned runs on 21 hits in 48 1/3 innings with 55 strikeouts and eight walks.

Murphy hit a three-run home run and Ruben Tejada had four hits, one RBI and two runs scored in the Mets' third straight win.

Aaron Harang (5-5) allowed five runs on seven hits and four walks in 5 2/3 innings, Harang, who has not won in his last four starts, had one of the Dodgers' three hits.

LA lost its sixth straight and was shut out for the fourth time during that stretch.
