KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 5 (UPI) -- Bruce Chen and a pair of Kansas City relievers teamed up for a five-hit shutout Tuesday and the Royals squeaked past Minnesota 1-0.

Greg Holland hurled a scoreless eighth inning and Jonathan Broxton picked up his 14th save despite allowing a hit and a walk in the ninth as Kansas City evened its three-game series against Minnesota.

Brayan Pena provided the game's only RBI with a second-inning single.

Twins starter Francisco Liriano (1-6) was saddled with the hard-luck loss, surrendering the one run on four hits over six frames.
