MLB: San Francisco 4, Philadelphia 2

SAN FRANCISCO, April 18 (UPI) -- Madison Bumgarner got to work Tuesday after signing a 5-year contract extension and pitched the San Francisco Giants to a 4-2 win over Philadelphia.

Bumgarner (2-1) allowed two runs on seven hits and struck out two en route to the victory, which snapped a two-game Giants losing streak.

Nate Schierholtz and Buster Posey had three hits apiece for the Giants and Schierholtz drove in a run.

Hunter Pence had a solo home run for Philadelphia and Carlos Ruiz also drove in a run. Joe Blanton (1-2) was roughed up with four runs on 11 hits over five innings.

The Phillies were 1-for-11 with runners in scoring position, but the Giants went 2-for-14.

The Giants scored twice in the first inning and then scored twice in the fifth to take a 4-1 lead.
