CHICAGO, April 15 (UPI) -- Rick Porcello allowed one run over 7 2/3 innings Sunday, staking the Detroit Tigers to a 5-2 victory over the Chicago White Sox.
Porcello (1-0) turned in his second straight strong start, yielding five hits while not issuing a walk and striking out four.

Gerald Laird socked a solo homer and the Tigers also scored on a bases-loaded walk and a wild pitch before Ramon Santiago and Prince Fielder each delivered RBI singles in the ninth.
The Tigers salvaged one win in a weekend series at Chicago.
White Sox starter Chris Sale (1-1) surrendered three runs on five hits over five full frames.
Dayan Viciedo belted a bases-empty homer for the Chisox.
