MLB: Chicago White Sox 4, Texas 3

ARLINGTON, Texas, April 7 (UPI) -- Alex Rios belted a go-ahead, ninth-inning homer Saturday and the Chicago White Sox went on to edge Texas 4-3.

Rangers closer Joe Nathan (0-1) came on to start the ninth and Rios greeted him by belting a high fast ball over the left-center field fence, just eluding the grasp of Josh Hamilton.

Rookie Hector Santiago, making only his third major league appearance, earned the save with a 1-2-3 bottom of the ninth for the White Sox, who logged their first win of the just-started season.

The Rios blast made a winner of Matt Thornton (1-0), who tossed a scoreless eighth.

Paul Konerko drove in three runs in Chicago's victory.

Texas starter Derek Holland allowed three runs on three hits over six innings, walking three and striking out five.

Elvis Andrus, Adrian Beltre and Mark Napoli drove in runs for the Rangers.
