NHL: Carolina 2, Los Angeles 1

RALEIGH, N.C., Feb. 4 (UPI) -- Jeff Skinner's goal with just over 3 minutes left in regulation Saturday was the difference in the Carolina Hurricanes' 2-1 decision over Los Angeles.

Skinner was there to poke in the rebound of a Jussi Jokinen shot, guiding it past Los Angeles goaltender Jonathan Bernier to break a 1-1 tie.

Jiri Tlusty also scored for the Hurricanes, who picked up their third win in four games.

Carolina goalie Cam Ward made 24-of-25 shots to collect his 20th victory of the season.

Anze Kopitar scored and Bernier made 20 saves for Los Angeles, which fell to 0-2 on a six-game road trip.
