SACRAMENTO, Jan. 26 (UPI) -- Danilo Gallinari, just hours after agreeing to a four-year contract extension, scored 23 points Wednesday and sent Denver sailing past Sacramento 122-93.
Gallinari came to Denver last season in the trade that sent Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups to New York. He is averaging 17 points a game this season and was dominant against the Kings, making 8-of-12 from the field and all six of his attempts from the foul line.
Denver closed the first half on a 25-8 run and had a 31-point lead as early as the first 3 minutes of the second half.
The Nuggets won their fifth straight and improved to 7-3 on the road. Denver and Oklahoma City are the only teams in the Western Conference with winning road records.
Nene added 16 points for the Nuggets while Andre Miller and Corey Brewer had 15 each.
The Kings, who have lost three in a row, were led by rookie Jimmer Fredette with 19.
