NBA: Philadelphia 96, Detroit 73

PHILADELPHIA, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Jodie Meeks scored 17 of his 21 points in the final period Friday to break open the game and send the Philadelphia 76ers to a 96-73 win over Detroit.

The 76ers played at home for the first time this season after opening the campaign with a 3-2 road trip. They won their third straight.

Philadelphia held a seven-point lead heading into the fourth quarter, and then turned the game into a runaway with a 32-point period. The Pistons scored just three points over the final 5:45.

Spencer Hawes contributed 16 points and 14 rebounds for Philadelphia. Lou Williams also had 16 points and Thaddeus Young scored 15.

Detroit was held to 36 percent shooting from the field and missed all 10 of its 3-point tries. Greg Monroe led the Pistons with 22 points.
