INDIANAPOLIS, Dec. 26 (UPI) -- David West scored 11 points to go with 12 rebounds in his Pacers debut Monday and Indiana bounced Detroit 91-79 in the season opener for both teams.
West, a free-agent acquisition for the Pacers, joined Roy Hibbert and Tyler Hansbrough in notching double-doubles -- Hansbrough had 15 points and 13 rebounds while Hibbert added 16 points and 14 for Indiana.
The Pacers logged a win in head Coach Frank Vogel's first season-opener behind the bench. He took over from the fired Jim O'Brien late last season and led the Pacers to their first post-season appearance since 2006.
The Pistons fell in the first head coaching appearance for Lawrence Frank.
Detroit was led by Jonas Jerebko and Rodney Stuckey, with 17 points each.
