DALLAS, Dec. 19 (UPI) -- Michael Ryder and Eric Nystrom scored in the third period Monday and the Dallas Stars moved into first place with a 5-3 victory over Anaheim.
With the score tied early in the final frame, Loui Eriksson gained control of the puck behind the net and fed a pass to Ryder, who was unguarded in the slot and whipped a shot past Jonas Hiller 6:42 into the period.
Nystrom added an insurance tally 7 1/2 minutes later and the Stars won for the fourth time in five games, surging into first place in the Pacific Division.
Mike Ribeiro added a goal and an assist, while Brendan Morrow and Alex Goligoski also found the net for Dallas.
Richard Bachman turned aside 25-of-28 shots for the winners.
Teemu Selanne, Lubomir Visnovsky and Nick Bonino netted consecutive second goals in the second period, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Ducks' 12th straight road loss.
Hiller finished with 28 saves.
