VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- Sami Salo's power-play goal late in overtime Saturday boosted the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-2 victory over Minnesota.
Minnesota forward Dany Heatley slashed the Canucks' Ryan Kesler with 1:15 remaining in the overtime, giving Vancouver a 4-on-3 advantage.
Salo's slap shot to the glove side of Minnesota goalie Niklas Backstrom less than a minute later provided the game-winner.
Jannik Hensen deflected a Manny Malhotra shot for a goal early in the third period, lifting the Canucks into a 1-1 tie.
Cory Schneider stopped 21-of-23 shots for Vancouver, which notched its eighth straight home win over Minnesota.
Devin Setoguchi and Kyle Brodziak found the net for the Wild, who finished a road swing to Edmonton and Vancouver with three points.
Backstrom made 29 stops.
