MLB: Colorado 8, Houston 6

DENVER, Aug. 24 (UPI) -- Jonathan Herrera and Seth Smith homered for the Colorado Rockies Tuesday in their 8-6 victory over Houston.

Smith hit a 478-foot bomb in the fifth inning and Herrera's two-run shot in the seventh broke a 6-6 tie and nailed down Colorado's fourth consecutive win.

Matt Belisle (8-4) was credited with the win for his perfect eighth inning, and Rex Brothers pitched the ninth for his first save. Houston put two runners aboard in the ninth but could not score.

Fernando Rodriguez (2-2) surrendered the decisive home run to Herrera and took the loss for Houston.

Carlos Lee and Johnny Paredes homered for the Astros, who have lost three straight.
