MLB: Tampa Bay 3, Seattle 2

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Aug. 19 (UPI) -- Run-scoring singles by Evan Longoria and Ben Zobrist in the eighth inning Friday rallied the Tampa Bay Rays to a 3-2 win over Seattle.

Seattle starter Felix Hernandez had a 2-1 lead after allowing only one hit through the first seven innings but he gave up five more in the eighth while the Rays were going in front.

Sam Fuld reached on a one-out single and moved to second on Johnny Damon's two-out infield base hit.

Longoria followed with a single that brought home Fuld with the tying run and Zobrist singled to center, bringing home Damon.

Casey Kotchman also reached on an infield single to load the bases but B.J. Upton flew out to end the inning.

Hernandez (11-11) thus went the distance for the fourth time this year. He walked three and struck out nine.

The win, Tampa Bay's third in a row, went to Juan Cruz (5-0). He recorded the final two outs in the eighth inning and Kyle Farnsworth then worked a perfect ninth for his 22nd save.
