MLB: Cleveland 8, Baltimore 4

BALTIMORE, July 14 (UPI) -- Asdrubal Cabrera and Carlos Santana both homered in the first inning Thursday and combined to drive in five runs in leading Cleveland past Baltimore 8-4.

The Indians snapped a three-game losing streak and handed the Orioles their eighth consecutive setback.

Cabrera opened the scoring with a solo homer as the second batter of the game. Travis Hafner then drew a walk and Santana followed with a two-run shot.

Santana added an RBI double in the third and Cabrera singled in another run during a four-run sixth that gave the Indians an 8-2 lead.

Justin Masterson (8-6) allowed four runs on eight hits in six innings while striking out eight. He has a 3-0 record over his last four starts. Masterson won his first five decisions of the season and then did not have a win in a span of nine starts.

Jeremy Guthrie continued his struggles by giving up six runs on five hits with four walks in five innings. His only victory in his last 13 starts came June 26 against Cincinnati.
