Vinci had to deal with 16 break points, saving all but three of them. She cashed in half of her 10 break-point changes.

Second-seeded Sara Errani had an easier time getting out of the quarterfinals, finishing off a 6-3, 6-1 win over Stefanie Voegele about an hour quicker than Vinci's win. Errani won 60 percent of the points in the match.

Qualifier Estrella Cabeza Candela also grabbed a semifinal spot, topping Eva Birnerova 7-6 (7-4), 6-3.

The semifinals have Vinci going against Zuzana Kucova and No. 3-seed Klara Zakopalova playing Kateryna Bondarenko in the top half of the bracket while Errani meets fifth-seeded Anabel Medina Garrigues and No. 7-seeded Irina-Camelia Begu faces Cabeza Candela in the lower half.
