Seeds roll into Budapest quarterfinals

BUDAPEST, Hungary, July 6 (UPI) -- Seeded players Klara Zakopalova, Anabel Medina Garrigues and Irina-Camelia Begu took straight-set wins Wednesday at the Budapest Grand Prix tennis tournament.

Zakopalova, seeded third, took more than 2 hours to get past Aleksandra Krunic 7-5, 7-5. Zakopalova cashed in all three of her break-point chances in the first set and had 10 more chances in the second, winning three in advancing to the tournament quarterfinals.

Medina Garrigues protected her No. 5 seeding with a 6-2, 7-4 win over Lesia Tsurenko. Medina Garrigues landed 80 percent of her first serves and faced only four break points in the match.

Begu, the No. 7 seed, won 6-4, 6-4 over Ajla Tomljanovic by taking nearly half of the points when receiving serves.

Also Wednesday, Kateryna Bondarenko defeated Olga Savchuk 6-3, 6-2 but her sister Alona Bondarenko was beaten by Zuzana Kucova 6-3, 6-1.
