Isner reaches Hall of Fame semifinals

NEWPORT, R.I., July 7 (UPI) -- John Isner outlasted Alex Bogomolov in two close sets Thursday to reach the semifinals of the Hall of Fame Tennis Championships.

Isner, the No. 1 seed, earned his first semifinal berth of the season by downing Bogomolov 7-6 (7-5), 6-4 on the grass courts of the International Tennis Hall of Fame.

No. 8 seed Tobias Kamke set up a meeting with Isner thanks to a 3-6, 6-1, 6-3 victory over Edouard Roger-Vasselin.

The other two quarterfinals will be played Friday. Olivier Rochus, who was the runner-up in this tournament a year ago, will meet Matthew Ebden. Michael Yani will face 18-year-old Denis Kudla.
