MLB: Texas 13, Baltimore 4

ARLINGTON, Texas, July 4 (UPI) -- Eric Chavez homered and drove in four runs Monday, pacing an 18-hit attack in the Texas Rangers' 13-4 rout of Baltimore.

Chavez belted a two-run shot in the second inning as the Rangers erased a 2-0 deficit and drove in two more with a double in the third as Texas extended its lead to 8-2.

Adrian Beltre added a two-run home run, David Murphy went 3-for-5 with two RBI and Michael Young contributed a run-scoring triple among his three hits for the Rangers, who came into the game tied with the Los Angeles Angels for the top spot in the American League West.

Colby Lewis (8-7) won for the third time in four starts, limiting the Orioles to three runs on five hits over seven frames while walking three and striking out four.

Baltimore's Chris Jakubauskas (2-2) lasted only two innings. He was pounded for six runs on seven hits.

Mark Reynolds cracked a pair of homers, driving in three runs, and J.J. Hardy added a solo shot for the Orioles.
