MLB: Chicago Cubs 3, Chicago White Sox 1

CHICAGO, July 3 (UPI) -- Rodrigo Lopez hurled seven shutout innings and Aramis Ramirez socked a two-run homer Sunday in the Chicago Cubs' 3-1 win over the crosstown White Sox.

Lopez (1-2) earned his first victory for the Cubs after replacing Doug Davis in the starting rotation. The former Arizona Diamondbacks hurler allowed only two hits, walked none and struck out three.

Kerry Wood yielded a run on a wild pitch in the eighth but Carlos Marmol turned in a 1-2-3 ninth to nail down the victory and enable the Cubs to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of Chisox.

Starlin Castro broke a fourth-inning scoreless tie with an RBI triple and then came home on the Ramirez blast.

White Sox starter Gavin Floyd (6-8) surrendered three runs on seven hits over seven frames, walking only one while striking out eight.
