LONDON, June 24 (UPI) -- Rain halted third-round play at Wimbledon Friday after eighth-seeded Andy Roddick was ousted by Spain's Feliciano Lopez. Lopez beat Roddick for the first time in eight tries 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-2), 6-4.
Lopez dominated the tiebreaks in the two opening sets and then jumped to an early lead in the deciding set, which he never relinquished. Lopez double-faulted to open the final game, but came back to win the next three points.
The loss was Roddick's fifth exit from Wimbledon without reaching the fourth round. His up-and-down career also includes three runner-up finishes to Roger Federer.
Play was halted during Spaniard Rafael Natal's match against Gilles Muller of Luxembourg. Nadal won the first set 7-6 (8-6).
Richard Gasquet of France advanced Friday with a 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 victory over Simone Bolelli of Italy.
