The Diamondbacks trailed by a run heading into the fifth, which began with Stephen Drew reaching on a single against Jeff Francis (3-8). Drew was erased at second on a fielder's choice grounder by Wily Mo Pena, who then moved to third on a single by Miguel Montero and scored on Nady's double.

A single by Willie Bloomquist delivered Montero and Nady scored from third moments later on a successful squeeze bunt by Ryan Roberts.

Ian Kennedy (8-2) gave up eight hits but only one run over six innings for the victory. J.J. Putz picked up his 19th save, but only after allowing two runners in the ninth.

Chris Getz reached on a two-out infield single and then stole both second and third. After Melky Cabrera walked, Eric Hosmer popped out to shortstop to end the game.
