MLB: Arizona 7, Kansas City 2

KANSAS CITY, Mo., June 21 (UPI) -- Gerardo Parra hit a two-run triple and Joe Saunders tossed seven strong innings Tuesday in the Arizona Diamondbacks' 7-2 interleague win over Kansas City.

Parra broke open a close game in the seventh with his three-bagger and then came home on Ryan Roberts' infield out, handing the Diamondbacks a 5-1 lead.

Chris Young added some insurance with a two-run homer in the eighth and Wily Mo Pena, recalled from the minors earlier in the day, delivered a solo shot as Arizona took the first of a three-game set against the Royals.

Saunders (4-7) held the Royals to two runs on six hits, walking three and striking out three as Arizona, which came into the game tied for the lead in the National League West, broke a two-game losing streak.

Kansas City's Luke Hochevar (4-8) was tagged for five runs on eight hits over seven frames.

Alex Gordon drove in two runs and finished with a double, triple and solo homer for the Royals.
