MLB: Baltimore 8, Pittsburgh 3

PITTSBURGH, June 20 (UPI) -- Adam Jones triggered a big first inning with a two-run single and the Baltimore Orioles banged out 14 hits Monday in an 8-3 interleague victory over Pittsburgh.

Jones' hit was followed by RBI from Derrek Lee, Robert Andino and pitcher Jake Arrieta as the Orioles sent 10 men to the plate, scoring five times.

Nick Markakis went 3-for-5 with two runs scored while Jones, J.J. Hardy, Lee and Andino each contributed a pair of hits for Baltimore, which won the opener of a three-game series at PNC Park.

Arrieta (9-4) tied for the major-league lead in wins with nine, allowing three runs on three hits in a five-inning start, walking two and fanning two.

Pittsburgh's Charlie Morton (7-4) was tagged for seven runs (six earned) on eight hits before being yanked after only two innings.

Ronny Cedeno drove in runs with a double and a groundout and Andrew McCutchen went 3-for-4 for the Bucs.
