NBA: San Antonio 111, Detroit 104

SAN ANTONIO, March 9 (UPI) -- Tony Parker led six San Antonio players in double figures with 23 points Wednesday and the Spurs bounced back from a rare loss to defeat Detroit 111-104.

San Antonio became the first team in the NBA to clinch a playoff berth.

The Spurs suffered their first home loss in 23 games Sunday, a 16-point setback at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers, but they opened as much as an 18-point lead in the first half against the Pistons.

The seven-point deficit at the end of the game was as close as Detroit came in the fourth quarter.

Parker made 11-of-15 shots from the field. San Antonio shot a sizzling 64 percent as a team and made its first 14 attempts. The Spurs scored 40 points in the opening period, the most they have produced in any quarter this season.

Manu Ginobili added 17 points, both Tim Duncan and Gary Neal had 15, Richard Jefferson had 12 and Matt Bonner had 11.

Detroit was led by 20 points off the bench from Richard Hamilton. The Pistons lost for the third time in four games.
