SAN JOSE, Calif., March 2 (UPI) -- Joe Thornton scored late in regulation Tuesday to set the stage for the San Jose Sharks' 2-1 shootout victory over Colorado.
Ryane Clowe tallied the only goal of the shootout and secured the Sharks' seventh straight win.

Thornton deflected in a slap shot from near the blue line by Jason Demers for his 16th goal to tie the contest 1-1 at 17:02 of the third period.
Erik Johnson scored an unassisted goal at 1:18 of the third period to open the scoring.
Antti Niemi had 18 saves for the Sharks, who outshot the Avalanche 35-19.
Brian Elliott had 24 saves for Colorado. The Avalanche have only one win in their last 15 games.
