LOUISVILLE, Ky., Feb. 18 (UPI) -- A 15-point performance by Peyton Siva and a strong showing by the bench Friday carried No. 16 Louisville to a 71-58 win over 12th-ranked Connecticut.
Preston Knowles, Kyle Kuric and Terrence Jennings, three of Louisville's top four scorers, combined for just 20 points. Knowles, who leads the Cardinals in scoring with a 14-point-per-game average, managed just six while hitting a mere 2-of-13 from the field.
The Louisville bench produced 30 points. Gorgui Dieng led the substitutes with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
Louisville (20-7, 9-5 Big East) has won five of its last eight games. The Cardinals moved into a tie for third place in the conference race, 3 1/2 games behind league-leading Pittsburgh with four to play.
The Cardinals defeated Connecticut in double-overtime Jan. 29.
The Huskies (20-6), 8-6) were led by Jamal Coombs-McDaniel and Kemba Walker with 16 each.
