NBA: Denver 132, Phoenix 98

DENVER, Jan. 12 (UPI) -- Arron Afflalo scored 31 points and Carmelo Anthony added 28 Tuesday in the Denver Nuggets' 132-98 pasting of Phoenix.

Anthony pulled down 10 rebounds, Ty Lawson scored 16 points and J.R. Smith scored 15 for the Nuggets, who snapped a three-game losing streak and sent Phoenix to its eighth loss in 11 games.

The Suns had 15 points each from Vince Carter and Steve Nash.

Phoenix shot 63.6 percent in the first quarter, but cooled off to 26.9 percent in the second. Denver responded with Anthony and Lawson scoring in double figures in the second quarter to stake the Nuggets to a 64-55 halftime lead.

Phoenix Coach Alvin Gentry sat his starters out in the fourth quarter as Denver breezed to the finish line.
