NBA: Sacramento 122, Denver 102

SACRAMENTO, Jan. 7 (UPI) -- Tyreke Evans paced Sacramento to a solid shooting performance Thursday and the Kings picked up a rare win with a 122-102 decision over Denver.

Sacramento won its eighth game of the season, leaving the Kings tied with Washington and Cleveland for the fewest number of victories in the league.

Nevertheless, the Kings have won three of their last five. It is their best stretch of success since they won three of their first games of the season.

Sacramento let a 14-point lead get away in the third period and the Nuggets tied it with 3:40 left in the quarter. The Kings then finished the period on a 12-2 run and were never threatened over the final 12 minutes.

Evans scored 27 points and DeMarcus Cousins added 20. The Kings shot 57 percent from the floor and made 9-of-19 from 3-point range.

Denver was led by Carmelo Anthony with 26. The Nuggets lost both ends of a two-game trip to California. Denver fell to the Los Angeles Clippers Wednesday.
