NHL: Vancouver 3, Calgary 1

VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Jan. 6 (UPI) -- Roberto Luongo took a shutout into the game's final minute and made 43 saves Wednesday in carrying the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-1 victory over Calgary.

The Canucks won their seventh straight game and passed Detroit to take the lead in the Western Conference with 57 points.

Luongo won for the 19th time this season. The Canucks lost just once in regulation in 17 games since the start of December.

Ryan Kesler scored his 20th goal of the season 1:10 into the game and Kevin Bieksa gave the Canucks a 2-0 lead with 3:48 to go into the opening stanza. Daniel Sedin tipped in a shot by Bieksa midway through the second.

The only Calgary goal came with 11 seconds remaining when Tim Jackman beat Luongo with a wrist shot. The Vancouver goaltender was trying for his third shutout of the season.

Miikka Kiprusoff stopped 18-of-21 shots to take the loss.
