Jason Terry scored 18 to lead the Mavericks, who were without Dirk Nowitzki -- listed as day-to-day after spraining his knee against Oklahoma City Monday.

Dallas trailed 23-13 after one quarter but made a move in the third quarter with a 12-3 run that cut Toronto's lead to 56-52 with 5 minutes left in the period.

The Mavericks fell cold in the fourth quarter, when their shooting percentage stumbled to 38 percent and they hit only 1-of-9 from 3-point range.
