NHL: St. Louis 4, Atlanta 2

ATLANTA, Dec. 21 (UPI) -- Alex Steen scored the go-ahead goal late in the second period Tuesday and the St. Louis Blues hung on to top the Atlanta Thrashers 4-2.

Steen broke a 1-1 tie with 1:21 left in the middle frame, ripping a wrist shot past Chris Mason from the right circle to put the Blues ahead for good.

Alex Pietrangelo and Vladimir Sobotka each notched a goal and an assist and Brad Boyes also scored for St. Louis, which won for only the second time in six games.

The Thrashers got goals from Bryan Little and Dustin Byfuglien. Mason stopped 23-of-26 shots in the setback.
