ST. LOUIS, Dec. 20 (UPI) -- Aaron Volpatti and Ryan Kesler scored in the second period Monday and the Vancouver Canucks went on to down St. Louis 3-1.

Volpatti broke a scoreless tie 7:12 into the second with his first NHL goal and Kesler added the eventual game-winner less than 2 minutes later, breaking in on a 2-on-1 rush and beating Jaroslav Halak with a wrist shot.

Jeff Tambellini scored and Roberto Luongo only had to make 15 saves for the streaking Canucks, who took their fourth straight and improved to 9-1-1 in their last 11 games.

The Blues, who lost for the fourth time in five games, got their lone goal from Alexander Steen and Halak ended up allowing three goals on 29 shots.
