NBA: New Orleans 100, Utah 71

NEW ORLEANS, Dec. 17 (UPI) -- David West scored 23 points Friday and the New Orleans Hornets held Utah to 33 first-half points in crushing the cold-shooting Jazz 100-71.

The Hornets won their second straight after dropping three in a row.

West made 7-of-9 from the field and hit all nine of his attempts from the foul line. Marcus Thornton added 19 points and Chris Paul had 11 points along with 10 assists.

Utah made only 35 percent of its field goal tries, converted just half of its free throws and was 3-of-19 from 3-point range.

Paul Millsap had 14 points to pace Utah.

New Orleans led by 17 points at the break and took a 27-point advantage into the final quarter.
