NHL: Pittsburgh 5, Toronto 2

PITTSBURGH, Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Sidney Crosby scored twice to run his points streak to 17 games Wednesday, carrying the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 5-2 win over Toronto.

The Penguins captured their 11th straight game and ran the NHL's best point total to 42.

Crosby is in the midst of the second-best streak of production in his six-year career. He has 20 goals and 15 assists over the last 17 games and has scored eight goals in the last four contests.

Pittsburgh also has the second-longest winning streak in franchise history working. The Penguins need to win six more, however, to equal the club record.

Mark Letestu had two goals for Pittsburgh, Chris Kunitz recorded three assists and Marc-Andre Fleury made 23 saves in the victory.

Pittsburgh scored the game's first four goals -- the first and last of those coming from Crosby. He has 26 for the season, best in the NHL.

Toronto has dropped five of its last seven. Jonas Gustavsson surrendered all five goals on 26 shots.
