NHL: Toronto 5, Washington 4 (SO)

WASHINGTON, Dec. 6 (UPI) -- Mikhail Grabovski ignited a three-goal third-period outburst and got the shootout winner Monday in the Toronto Maple Leafs' 5-4 victory over Washington.

Trailing 4-1 entering the final frame, the Leafs exploded for three goals, beginning with Grabovski's tally 4:16 into the period. Tim Brent made it 4-3 and Clarke MacArthur scored the second of his two goals with 1:24 remaining, tying the game on a close-in one-timer off a feed from Grabovski.

Then, after a scoreless overtime, the German center got the only goal of the shootout to complete the comeback for Toronto, which got 32 saves from Jonas Gustavsson.

Mathieu Perreault scored twice and Alex Ovechkin and Mike Knuble each added a goal for Washington.
