NBA: Portland 106, Phoenix 99

PORTLAND, Ore., Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Wesley Matthews scored 24 points Tuesday to lead the Portland Trail Blazers to a 106-99 victory over Phoenix.

Matthews, who took over at point guard for the suspended Andre Miller, hit three 3-pointers and was 7-of-8 from the free throw line.

Brandon Roy and LaMarcus Aldridge each had 20 points for the Blazers, who won their second consecutive game after losing six in a row.

Steve Nash led Phoenix with 24 points and 15 assists. Grant Hill added 23 for the Suns, who shot 50.7 percent from the field as a team.

The Blazers went on a 9-point run late in the fourth quarter to rally for the win after falling behind 89-87 with 4:31 left to play.
