NHL: Edmonton 3, Colorado 2

EDMONTON, Alberta, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Taylor Hall put a slap shot past Peter Budaj with 29 seconds remaining Thursday to give Edmonton a 3-2 victory over Colorado.

It was the fifth goal of the season for Hall, the No. 1 choice in the 2010 NHL draft. Edmonton won for just the sixth time in 21 games this season and the Oilers ended a six-game home losing streak.

Edmonton took a 2-0 lead in the first on goals scored 2:11 apart by Gilbert Brule and Andrew Cogliano.

Kevin Shattenkirk cut the Colorado deficit in half in the opening stanza and Matt Duchene tied it in the second on the power play.

Martin Gerber got the win in his first start for Edmonton and his first in the NHL since April 2009. He made 35 saves. Budaj stopped 21-of-24 shots.

The game was the lone NHL contest on the Thanksgiving Day schedule.
