PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 26 (UPI) -- Rene Bourque zipped the puck past Philadelphia goalie Sergei Bobrovsky for a shootout goal Friday that sent Calgary to a 2-1 road win over the Flyers.
Bourque's game-deciding shot in the third shootout round came after Mike Richards missed his backhand attempt against Flames goalie Miikka Kiprusoff.
Philadelphia came oh-so-close to winning the game in the overtime period when a shot that sailed under the crossbar with 1:35 left was disallowed when defenseman Chris Pronger, who screened Kiprusoff but didn't touch him, was given an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty.
Calgary, which had lost its last three games, made it to the overtime and subsequent shootout with goals from Curtis Glencross and Steve Staios.
Kiprusoff made 34 stops.
James van Riemsdyk and Nikolay Zherdev got the Flyers's goals. Bobrovsky made 28 saves.
Philadelphia had won its last three.
"They're really one of the top teams in the league and it was a big challenge for us," Kiprusoff said of the Flyers, who entered the game tied with Washington for the best record in the NHL. "We talked about it before the game and we've been working pretty hard, but the last two games, we weren't able to get wins there. We have to keep pushing and play as a team and we woke up."
