NBA: Detroit 97, Charlotte 90

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 5 (UPI) -- Ben Gordon, Will Bynum and Richard Hamilton were perfect from the line in the final 28 seconds Friday, bringing Detroit a 97-90 victory over Charlotte.

It was the first win of the season for the Pistons after they had dropped their opening five games. It was the first time in 30 years Detroit had started a season 0-5. Charlotte has won once in five contests.

The Pistons led by as many as 22 points in the first half but Charlotte fought back to within four with a half minute to play.

Gordon made his two foul shots with 28 seconds left, Bynum came through with 17 seconds to go and Hamilton made a pair with 10 seconds remaining for the final margin.

Gordon led the way with 20 points and Hamilton made all 11 of his foul shots for 16 points.

Charlotte was paced by 28 points from Stephen Jackson. The Bobcats have lost in nine of their last 11 trips to Detroit.
