NBA: Boston 109, Detroit 86

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov. 2 (UPI) -- Kevin Garnett netted 22 points and Paul Pierce added 21 Tuesday in the Boston Celtics' 109-86 win over Detroit.

Garnett went 9-of-12 from the field, Ray Allen contributed 16 points and Rajon Rondo chipped in with nine points and 17 assists in the victory.

The Celtics took their first road win of the season after outscoring the Pistons 26-18 during a decisive second quarter.

The Pistons fell to 0-4 -- their worst showing to start a season since the 1999-2000 campaign, when they began 0-5.

Detroit got 17 points and seven boards from Charlie Villanueva and Austin Daye contributed 16 points in the setback.
