Charlotte trailed by 10 points midway through the final period, but went on a 14-2 run to take the lead.

The two free throws by Augustin were the final points of the game. New Jersey then had four cracks at a game-tying basket but Devin Harris, Travis Outlaw, Brook Lopez and Outlaw again all missed shots in the final 26 seconds.

After Outlaw's miss with 5 seconds remaining, Augustin finally captured a rebound for the Nets. Austin scored just five points, but had seven assists and six rebounds.

Harris scored 19 for the Nets, six of which came during a 13-2 run early in the fourth quarter that briefly put New Jersey in front.
