NHL: Pittsburgh 3, Carolina 0

RALEIGH, N.C., Oct. 30 (UPI) -- Pascal Dupuis scored his third and fourth goals of the season and Brent Johnson was flawless in goal Saturday in Pittsburgh's 3-0 win over Carolina.

Dupuis gave the Penguins a 1-0 lead 4:18 into the first period when he came into the Carolina zone with Sidney Crosby and put a backhander past Cam Ward.

His second goal -- a wrist shot off assists from Crosby and Alex Goligosky -- came 8:10 into the final frame and provided Pittsburgh's final margin of victory.

Johnson turned aside all 33 shots he saw to notch his first shutout of the season. Maxime Talbot also scored for the victors.

Ward allowed three goals on 31 shots for the Hurricanes.
