NBA: Orlando 112, Washington 83

ORLANDO, Fla., Oct. 28 (UPI) -- Dwight Howard and Vince Carter led Orlando to a strong first half Thursday and the Magic rolled over Washington 112-83.

The Magic and Wizards were the last two NBA teams to open their regular season.

The game also marked the NBA debut of Washington guard John Wall, who was the No. 1 player selected in this year's draft. He scored 14 points with nine assists, but hit just 6-of-19 attempts from the field.

Howard scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds. Carter added 18 points to help the Magic storm to a 58-34 halftime lead.

Orlando shot 55 percent from the field and out-rebounded Washington by 28. Cartier Martin led the Wizards with 17 points off the bench.
