NHL: New York Rangers 3, New Jersey 1

NEW YORK, Oct. 24 (UPI) -- Michal Rozsival and Ryan Callahan scored second-period goals Sunday and the New York Rangers went on to down New Jersey 3-1.

The pair also notched one assist each and Henrik Lundqvist stopped 27-of-28 shots to pace the Rangers to their third straight victory and their first of the year at Madison Square Garden.

Lundqvist raised his career home record against the Devils to 12-2-2 with the victory.

Brandon Dubinsky added an empty-net goal and registered an assist for the Rangers.

Ilya Kovalchuk scored in the third period to cut the Devils' deficit to 2-1, but New Jersey couldn't get any closer. Kovalchuk, who signed a 15-year, $100 million contract in the off-season, was a healthy scratch in Saturday's 6-1 loss to Buffalo.

Martin Brodeur stopped 31-of-33 shots for the reeling Devils, who lost for the fourth time in five games.
