Ivanovic sweeps to second round in Austria

LINZ, Austria, Oct. 13 (UPI) -- Daniela Hantuchova and Ana Ivanovic lost just five games between them Wednesday in advancing at the Generali Ladies Linz tennis tournament in Austria.

Hantuchova, the event's No. 2 seed, took out Kateryna Bondarenko 6-1, 6-2 in 66 minutes in a first-round match. Hantuchova piled up five service breaks, including three in the four games Bondarenko served in the second set.

The seventh-seeded Ivanovic, also playing in the first round, routed Sorana Cirstea 6-2, 6-0 in an even more rapid 46 minutes. Ivanovic claimed 89 percent of the points in the second set, including every point in Cirstea's three service games.

The tournament's final first-round match saw fifth-seeded Petra Kvitova advance when Anastasia Rodionova, who suffered a left adductor muscle strain, retired. Kvitova was ahead 6-2, 1-0 when the match was stopped.

Three second-round matches were also all straight-set affairs. Sixth-seeded Andrea Petkovic moved to the quarterfinals with a 6-0, 6-3 win over Anne Keothavong; ninth-seeded Sara Errani topped Renata Voracova 6-2, 6-2; and Roberta Vinci took out Sofia Arvidsson 6-4, 6-2.
