NHL: Boston 3, Phoenix 0

PRAGUE, Czech Republic, Oct. 10 (UPI) -- Tim Thomas turned aside all 29 shots he faced Sunday, backstopping the Boston Bruins to a 3-0 whitewash of the Phoenix Coyotes in Prague, Czech Republic.

Thomas notched his 18th career shutout and assisted on a goal in the victory, which allowed the Bruins to split a two-game, season-opening set with Phoenix at O2 Arena.
