COL FB: Iowa 24, Penn State 3

IOWA CITY, Iowa, Oct. 3 (UPI) -- Ricky Stanzi passed for 227 yards and rushed for a touchdown Saturday, boosting No. 18 Iowa to a 24-3 victory over 20th-ranked Penn State.

Stanzi connected on 16-of-22 passes and also produced a 1-yard rushing touchdown near the end of the first half, helping Iowa (4-1, 1-0 Big 10) post a victory in the conference openers for both schools.

Adam Robinson ran the ball 28 times for 95 yards for the Hawkeyes, who beat Penn State for the fourth straight time at Kinnick Stadium.

The Nittany Lions (3-2, 0-1) were paced by Rob Bolden, who completed 20-of-37 passes for 212 yards with an interception. But he was stopped from the 1-yard line early the second half with the Hawkeyes holding a 17-3 lead.

Evan Royster managed only 56 yards rushing for Penn State.
