MADISON, Wis., Oct. 1 (UPI) -- Bill Haas and Brendon de Jonge both shot a 6-under 66 for the second day in a row Friday and shared the lead after 36 holes at the Viking Classic.
Their 12-under 132 totals gave them a three-shot advantage in the first of the PGA Tour's Fall Series, five tournaments that will determine the final standings on the money list as well as which players will be eligible to compete on the circuit in 2011.
Michael Allen also had a 66, one off the low round of the day -- Chris Stroud's 65 -- and was tied with Nathan Green at 135. Bill Lunde was alone in fifth at 136.
It took a score of even-par 144 at the Annandale Golf Club to survive the 36-hole cut and among those missing out were David Duval and John Daly.
Only the top 125 in earnings at the end of the season gain an exemption for next year and Duval began the week in 107th place. Daly is well outside the leading 125 and would need a victory over the final weeks to earn a spot on the tour next season. When he has played on the tour this year, he has done so on sponsor's exemptions.
Brett Quigley, who was part of a six-way tie for first place at the end of the first round, shot a 77 Friday and barely survived the cut.
