MLS: Colorado 4, Philadelphia 1

COMMERCE CITY, Colo., Sept. 30 (UPI) -- Omar Cummings scored twice Wednesday, the first goal coming 8 minutes into the game, and the Colorado Rapids went on to roll past Philadelphia 4-1.

The Rapids improved their playoff chances with their fifth straight home win. They have outscored the opposition in those five games by a combined 14-1.

Cummings has scored 12 goals this season, seven of them coming in his last five appearances. He made it 2-0 in the 15th minute with a volley off a corner kick from Jamie Smith.

Wells Thompson and Quincy Amarikwa also scored for Colorado, which improved to 11-7-8.

Philadelphia dropped to 7-13-6.
